Parenting Classes

These classes are held at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in the Professional Building 2 or ACH South Campus Brandon Conference Center (located one block south of the main hospital). Parking is available across the street from the Brandon Conference Center. 11 Children’s Way – look for the blue awning. Large banners are also located on both sides of the building.

All CEP classes are FREE of charge but participants must register in advance on-line (see below).

Please Note: We are unable to provide childcare services during the class. Parents attending the class are requested to make their own childcare arrangements.

Preparing for Parenthood: What To Do After The Baby Arrives!
This seminar, presented by Nicholas Long, Ph.D., is designed for first-time expectant parents. The focus will be on discussing various parenting issues, including preparing for the role of a new parent, infant development, infant temperament, preventing sleep and feeding problems, and injury prevention.

Being an Effective Parent during the Toddler and Preschool Years
This seminar, presented by Nicholas Long, Ph.D., is designed for parents of toddlers and preschoolers. The focus will be on discussing various parenting issues, including discipline, sleep problems, sibling rivalry, children and television, injury prevention, and developing the basic building blocks for reading.

This seminar, presented by Nicholas Long, Ph.D., is designed for parents of 6-12 year old children. The focus will be on discussing various parenting issues, including discipline, promoting self-reliance, communicating effectively with your child, peer pressure, and school-related issues.
